HOW IT STARTED
Swiss multi-artist Maurizio Mancioli designed the Acquabox in the late 20th century, drawing inspiration from sci-fi movies, his memories of scuba-diving with his father as a young boy, and an intense desire for deep relaxation and a sense of weightlessness, in a state of suspended time and gravity.
At first, the Acquabox was not intended for sale. Maurizio used it for his own well-being, and as an installation for performances at his home in São Paulo, but it wasn’t long before people started asking him if they might have one, too.
So, he perfected the design, sought out the best suppliers, technologies and materials, fine-tuned details, hired specialists from around the world and ran trial upon trial to arrive at this minimalist piece of art, full of hidden features for a unique, profound experience.
Maurizio now sets up the Acquabox in both homes and spas. His expertise is key for a seamless user experience and perfect architectural integration; this is why he supervises closely each step of the development and execution process.
DEEP BODY AND MIND RELAXATION
Acquabox is both a design masterpiece and a therapeutic device.

Its main component, the capsule, is made of fully recyclable acrylic by a company specialized in large-scale projects such as public sea aquariums. For security reasons, the thickness of the acrylic shell has been over-engineered. The item carries a 10-year warranty.

The typical shape of the Acquabox is a cylinder 120cm in diameter and 300cm tall. It can also be custom built in different shapes and dimensions.

The Acquabox uses the latest water-treatment technologies, such as salt water, UV irradiation, or ozone filtering (depending on the customer’s needs), benefitting both the user and the environment.

The power-saving heating system is equipped with a thermostat and reaches quickly and silently the desired temperature. It can be remotely activated using your smartphone and an optional automation system.

The air supply is ensured by a medical-grade compressor; it is silent, safe for breathing and allows hours of use.

The sound system provides crystal-clear music as you dive.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

Floor strength: consider that the weight of the Acquabox when filled is about 3400 Kg. For apartment building installations, structural reinforcement will most probably be necessary.

User top access: should be easy and comfortable, from a mezzanine or with stairs.

Shower and WC: should be at the access floor and at a very close distance from the Acquabox entrance. Water immersion has a diuretic effect, and while users are immersed, they might need to go to the bathroom.

Exposure to sunlight: the acrylic capsule should not be exposed to direct sunlight, especially in the middle of the day, as this will affect its integrity over time.

Machine-room: it can be up to 20 meters distant from the Acquabox (base level). It should be about 1 cubic meter in size, ventilated and noise-insulated.

Compressor room: the air compressor (for breathing) can be placed in the machine s' room (if it's very well ventilated and noise-insulated), or, ideally, on the access-level floor, in a separate room and in an acoustic cabinet.
