DEEP BODY AND MIND RELAXATION
Acquabox is both a design masterpiece and a therapeutic device.
Doctors prescribe water immersion as a supporting psychological and physiological treatment therapy for conditions like anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as for cardio-vascular conditioning, weight loss, orthopedic rehabilitation, surgical recovery, and physiotherapeutic relief for chronic pain.
Underwater, you’ll hear nothing but the sound of your breathing, your heartbeat, your thoughts. You can feel the power of your lungs: inhale and you float up; exhale and you slowly sink down, in a delicate, relaxed, involuntary dance.
If taking a shower has the power to inspire great ideas, or solve difficult problems, imagine how Acquabox can magnify creativity.
Neuroscientists explain that being surrounded by water helps us reach higher levels of consciousness, and see things from a different perspective. Regular Acquabox use is ideal if your work demands vision.

The aquatic environment produces physiologic changes that help to expel metabolic waste, improve cardiac function, lower blood pressure, and assist the body in tissue healing.
Hydrotherapy increases the heart rate while lowering blood pressure, whereas other forms of exercise raise it. Immediately after a person is immersed, water begins to exert pressure on the body, and the cardiac output increases by 32%, at rest. Water may be the ideal cardiovascular conditioning medium.

Hydrotherapy helped improve sleep patterns. The participants weight was also reduced by an average of 3.75lbs. The subjects lost over one pound per week, just by soaking in a spa.

HOW IT STARTED
Swiss multi-artist Maurizio Mancioli designed the Acquabox in the late 20th century, drawing inspiration from sci-fi movies, his memories of scuba-diving with his father as a young boy, and an intense desire for deep relaxation and a sense of weightlessness, in a state of suspended time and gravity.
At first, the Acquabox was not intended for sale. Maurizio used it for his own well-being, and as an installation for performances at his home in São Paulo, but it wasn’t long before people started asking him if they might have one, too.
So, he perfected the design, sought out the best suppliers, technologies and materials, fine-tuned details, hired specialists from around the world and ran trial upon trial to arrive at this minimalist piece of art, full of hidden features for a unique, profound experience.
Maurizio now sets up the Acquabox in both homes and spas. His expertise is key for a seamless user experience and perfect architectural integration; this is why he supervises closely each step of the development and execution process.
